Our guest speaker for the night was Robert Hayson, owner of Fletchers Photographics in Bega. With over 40 years in the field, Robert was an informative speaker and illustrated the diversity of his experience with a selection of his favourite shots, including photos of the building of the new Sapphire Marketplace in Bega. He also showed the group the latest SLR offering from Canon, a 5D Mark III, and demonstrated some of its features.
Several members took the opportunity to share a selection of their photos. One was also displayed for comments on how it could be improved.
This week's websites were: 4x5 Kodachromes from WW2 and Dofmaster Online Photography Course
As no action had been taken by the person who volunteered to investigate a photography course specific for club members, links to local organisations/businesses providing courses will be added to the website and members can sign up for courses on an individual basis, as they come up.
A volunteer is being sought to organise an exhibition of our best shots as one way to celebrate the club's first birthday in November (both Bernie and I will be away for the month of October so are unable to do this ourselves). If anyone is willing to take on this role, please email me by cob Friday. If a volunteer isn't forthcoming, we'll leave it for this year and perhaps reconsider it next year for our second anniversary.
Given the last photo shoot was a wash-out, it was agreed that we try again for Kisses Lagoon (also known as Apex Park), Bega. We'll meet at 4pm at the carpark on Sunday, 1 July (weather permitting).
It was agreed that meetings be on a (more or less) quarterly basis from now on, with the next one at 7:30pm in the Banksia Room, Tura Beach Country Club, on Sunday 16 September. Note, though, that our photo shoot outings will continue to be monthly. Please check the website for future meetings and photo shoot locations.
